With the brightish but very windy weather I pulled out of a planned visit to Marston and went instead to a patch I visited a few times last year but has been miserable all winter. What an unexpected pleasure! Apart from a large number of Wigeon, Teal, Gadwall, and Shoveler together with a pair of Oystercatchers, seven Curlew, about thirty Lapwing, four Skylarks, two Buzzards:

two Kestrels:

and a Heron, I saw this (two actually):

No details of location I’m afraid for obvious reasons. Anyone wishing to know please p.m. me.

All photos taken at considerable distance (100 to 200 metres) and much cropped.
