This glossy ibis was first spotted on Friday at Collingham pits, a different individual to the long stayer at Lowdham. The bird hadn’t been reported so far today, but when I arrived early afternoon I didn’t have to wait long. It flew up from in front of me as soon as the car door was opened. Dang, I’d have been a bit more careful if I’d known it was that close. Anyway it spent the whole afternoon in view, flying back close a few times. I put the news out to birdguides, following which a total of three people turned up. I suppose everyone in Notts and Lincs has already seen one this year.
Also on the pit were three whoopers, about a dozen goldeneyes, two goosanders and other ducks.
