Made the short trip to Helpringham fen and was surprised to find hardly any snow on the ground here, unlike home. I’d never birded here before, but it will certainly be on my radar from now on. Wide open farmland, looks good for raptors and owls etc. I got onto the rlb after about an hour or so of stopping, scanning, moving a bit, stopping, scanning and more scanning. Several commons seen too.
This bird, a juvenile was very like the recent Frampton one. From Helpringham village take North Drove and search the whole length of the fen-it’s quite a long road that bends round in a big u shape.
